Brandon Wood

is the lead Career Preparation Program instructor at Muhlenberg Job Corps Center. She has worked with Job Corps for several years and held the position of lead CPP instructor for 12 years. She loves working one on one with new students as they begin their path toward a successful career. Brandon is pursuing a degree in human services from Madisonville Community College and plans to one day use her education and training to work as a drug and alcohol counselor/TEAP specialist with Job Corps students.

Scotty Symonds - Welding - Tongue Point Job Corps Center

Scotty Symonds

is the Welding instructor at Tongue Point Job Corps Center. Scotty has been welding since he was 10 years old. He graduated from Davis Applied Technology Center in 1993 then worked for Syro Steel Co. and Tesco Williamson before joining the Job Corps team.

Len Tumbarello - Seamanship - Tongue Point Job Corps Center

Len Tumbarello

has been the director of Seamanship at Tongue Point Job Corps Center since 2013. In this role, Len leads a team of 12 instructors to help students achieve the necessary qualifications for a career in the maritime industry, and in 2015, he helped double the Seamanship program from 60 to 120 students. Len retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in 2013 after 28 years of service and now is able to pass his experiences on to his students. 

Gary Coats - Plastering, Pre-Apprentice - Tongue Point Job Corps Center

Gary Coats

is the Plastering instructor at Tongue Point Job Corps Center. He brings nearly four decades of experience as a plasterer to his current role. He also has 13 years of teaching experience at an apprenticeship school. Gary’s favorite part of his job is working with students. He is dedicated to helping each student find a job they will enjoy upon completing the program.

Scott Marchant - Painting - Tongue Point Job Corps Center

Scott Marchant

entered the painting industry in 1988 and brings decades of experience to his role as the Painting instructor at Tongue Point Job Corps Center. Scott loves the atmosphere among painters on a construction site and works to instill that mindset in his students. He enjoys being an instructor as a way to give back and help Job Corps students on their career journeys.

Bill Read - Glazing, Pre-Apprentice - Tongue Point Job Corps Center

Bill Read

has been the Glazing instructor at Tongue Point Job Corps Center since 2009. Prior to joining the Job Corps team, Bill was an apprentice journeyman. In both this experience and as an instructor, he has enjoyed taking students under his wing and teaching them the skills for a career in glazing.

Jim Kalmbach

started his career in the electrical field in the 1960s and has served as HBI Electrical instructor at Tongue Point Job Corps Center since 2008. Jim began his career wiring houses. He later joined an apprenticeship program and worked as a contractor and as an electrical inspector. Jim’s favorite part of his job is helping students work toward successful futures
